Internet Explorer 9 has broken my heart and maybe your website

plus "Compatibility Mode" is stupid

On March 17th, three days after Internet Explorer 9's (IE9) release date, I wrote a cautiously optimistic post about it maybe not sucking.  It turns out I was wrong. And since it was Saint Patrick's Day, I might have been something else as well and that is how I will explain it to my future biographer.

Welcome IE 9.  I hope you don't suck.

But you probably do.

With the release of IE 9, Microsoft has, at least according to their press release, created the "most modern browser" available.  And while that remains to be seen it certainly appears to be an improvement over the ie 7 and 8 and of course over the browser that shall not be named. (hint: it came right before 7).
